  4.      Utilities up to and including this release.

  36.      We released a new standalone module called "Modem Finder for DOS".
  37.      Modem Finder for DOS is designed for use by software developers who 
  38.      are installing new software or hardware and need to know details about 
  39.      the modem installation. Based upon PortInfo, Modem Finder for DOS
  40.      creates a binary file containing the ports used by modems, the port
  41.       addresses and IRQs, the modem speed, manufacturer (when available)
  42.      and extended command set(s) supported. Contact CTS, Inc. for details.

  52.      PortMaster - a User Interface for the rest of the Serial Port
  53.      Utilities (SPU). PortMaster provides easy-to-use menus for
  54.      PortInfo, ResetModem, ResetCom, HangUp and the port settings.
  55.      In addition, PortMaster displays the command required to do
  56.      the same operation from the DOS prompt so you can add the
  57.      command to batch files as needed.
  58.      
  59.      PortInfo operation in a Windows DOS box has been improved to
  60.      allow better operation in various Windows environments.
  61.      
  62.      Detects when a serial port is using a fast clock to provide 
  63.      data rates above 115,200 bps. PortInfo detects x2, x4 and x8
  64.      clock multipliers and reports in a WARNING message and on the
  65.      summary screen.

  67.      Improved RockWell RPI (TM) modem detection - detects both
  68.      versions of RPI modems. Registered versions also detect if
  69.      the correct driver is installed for Windows to use the modem

  132.      * Added the BIOS_FIX utility. BIOS_FIX ensures correct installation and
  133.        initialization of the serial ports when run from the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
  134.        The registered version verifies the Windows serial port setup as well.
  135.  
  136.      * Added the ResetMod(em) utility. ResetMod(em) performs a complete reset
  137.        of a modem - doing everything possible (via software) to obtain or
  138.        regain control of a modem. Very handy for use with internal modems when
  139.        a power-off is the only other answer. An optional setup string can be
  140.        added to ResetMod(em) if a specific modem setup is required.
  141.  
  142.      * Added the HangUp utility. HangUp will do everything possible to force
  143.        the modem to hang up the phone line. Very helpful to run after programs
  144.        that do not properly hang up the modem.

  146.      * Added support for two new UART types to PortInfo: the 16650 from
  147.        StarTech and the 16750 from Texas Instruments. These are
  148.        identified as the "ST-650" and "TI-750" on the PortInfo summary
  149.        screen respectively. Buffer-Trigger levels are also properly reported
  150.        for the receive buffer.

  152.      * Added new conflict tests:
  153.        - Specific test for a Mouse/Modem conflicts;
  154.        - A Long Test option for finding difficult to detect conflicts.

  156.      * Added a new message type: "For Your Information". This message
  157.        type will replace Warning messages, when appropriate (for
  158.        example, when a Com4 port cannot be used in a computer).

  160.      * PortInfo will perform a complete analysis of the serial port

  305.      * Some network cards were interferred with by the PortInfo
  306.        test resulting in a lockup after PortInfo completed running.
  307.        Two changes in PortInfo address this problem:
  308.  
  309.        1) There is a new command line option "/XIi" that you can use if
  310.        you know which IRQ your network uses. This command line option
  311.        forces PortInfo to eXclude Irq "i" from the test. For example, if
  312.        your network card is on IRQ 5, then add "/XI5" to the command
  313.        line. Use of this command completely resolves the problem.
  314.  
  315.        2) PortInfo has also been changed to avoid the lockup condition
  316.        if you don't specify the "/XIi" command option. Starting with
  317.        version 1.3, PortInfo no longer causes a lockup, but you may lose
  318.        your network connection. You canlog out and then back in to the
  319.        network to re-establish your connection.

  321.      * Under some circumstances, PortInfo would repeat message
  322.        PI-3000 (a port address conflict message) when detecting two
  323.        serial ports installed at the same address. Fixed!

  353.      * PortInfo automatically detects and tests any ports listed
  354.        in the BIOS data area when no CTSCOMn environment variables are
  355.        set for the ports.

  357.      * The "Emulated UART" note was expanded to cover original 8250B UARTs
  358.        installed in fast computers. This UART is too slow for the faster
  359.        computer bus, and is occasionally detected by PortInfo as an
  360.        "Emulated UART".

  362.      * Removed "/Iii" from a startup error message. "/Iii" is not used by
  363.        any current utilities.

  365.      * The control utilities BUFFER, COM_BPS, COM_FMT, DTR, IRQ, RESETCOM
  366.        and RTS will first attempt to use the standard and CTSCOMn port
  367.        assignments. If these fail, then they will check the BIOS data area
  368.        for a possible alternate serial ports installed by DOS_COM or
  369.        other BIOS data area update programs.
